Oh Say Can You See

You know, in all of this transformation, it's easy to see some things and harder for others. You know it's going to be better than what it is, but sometimes the beauty of it takes your breath away. Like the floors. I thought they'd be no big deal, but seeing them finished, I just want to lay on the floors and run my hands over the surface.

It's especially weird that you can see your own vision, but how do you convey that to someone else when you're just showing before and during pictures? And is the after ever really the end?

We started the upstairs bathroom this weekend. I still have one window to wash, and I can't use the tub for the next week (figures, because that's where I clean them). I need to have part of the base floor replaced, so I can't finish the whole floor. The new toilet is in but not hooked up to the water because we got the wrong kind of hose, and the sink isn't caulked, so it's still wobbly. And the water's only trickling out of the faucet.

Things are definitely progressing, but nothing's DONE yet, and it's getting a little discouraging. I'm excited about projects, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm slow with things. I've either never done it or haven't done it many times, and I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Which is a good thing in the long run, but right now, time is of the essence.

Less than 2 weeks left. 12 days. 10 of which I'll have to work my JOB, so I can't work very long on the house.

I am Nicki's freak out.

Where it All Began

When I was 11 months old, back in July 1973, my parents took my siblings and I and moved us to Bayside Dr. It would be my home for the next 18 years.

I moved out when I was 19, then my parents moved to Florida a year and two later and rented the house out. Those tenants stayed for the next 16 years.

I got the call from my mom the tenants were moving out and they were thinking about renting the house to me. Hello, one of my biggest dreams come true!

However, upon inspection, the house was in shambles. And so begins the journey back to greatness...

Home Sweet Home

Here's a blog about the rehab of my childhood home. A place I never thought I'd make it back to. It was in pretty sad shape when the last tenants moved out, but we're piecing her back together, bit by bit.

I will be posting before, during, and after photos for your enjoyment. (OK, it's for MY enjoyment, really, but I like to make you feel good) They should be coming this evening.
